As you may know, each week I challenge myself to working on a new quality that I want to improve. Last “week” the challenge was honesty, here’s a link to the post. Well, since I’m being honest I could have done better. It was a hard one to remember and I didn’t make a point of reminding myself every day to be honest. So that part of it wasn’t so good. Yet, when I did remember and did encourage myself to be honest, it went really well. The satisfaction you get from being your genuine self is really rewarding. It’s hard to not hold anything back and be genuine, but when you do it you end up feeling truly connected. Like all of these qualities, this one I’ll be working on for a long time, probably for life :p. But hopefully I’ll get much better at it to the point that always being honest comes naturally. So far I’ve improved and it’s much more often that I am aware that I have a choice to be honest in a given situation or to be dishonest, it’s choosing that honesty regularly that’s the real challenge.
Alright, so this week I chose determination. Sadly, this is another quality that I tend to lack. I’m sure you all know those people (or maybe are one of those people) who, when they want something they do everything in their power to make it happen. I’m not that way. Yes, occasionally I am that way. But quite often when I encounter a challenge or some lack of enthusiasm, I tend to drop my determination altogether. I hate that. I dream of being the kind of person who says she’s going to do something and does it. Who wants something and does everything in her power to make it happen. It’s a huge goal of mine. That’s why this quality, while it might seem a little strange to some of you, is very close to my heart.
This week will require me to stay focused on what I want, and stick with things even when they are challenging or I’ve lost motivation. I will be reminding myself “Hey girl, listen up! Do you want to be the kind of person who doesn’t do much with their life, or do you want to be the kind of person who accomplishes a lot? Yea, that’s right, so go make it happen!” That’s my motivational speech to myself :P. Hopefully I will become a determined little butterfly like the adorable one in the image!
Thanks for listening!
